The Prince George's Healthy Eating and Active Living Initiative (PG HEAL)

PG HEAL is a community-partnership to advocate for policies, practices, and programs to impact food policy and student physical fitness.  The initiative is funded by Kaiser Permanente and emerged into the PG Urban Agriculture Center.  To date, the initiative supports a food demonstration production site at Drew Freeman Middle School (DFM) and Windsor Crossing Apartments where we are gowing the ingredients to produce a commercial "Suitland Salsa" planning efforts for a Farmers Market at the Suitland Technology Center to support the purchase of fruits and vegetables using SNAP and WIC benefits, and approval to develop a food production site at the Suitland Mini Park.

Our volunteers completed building our first Hoop House at Windsor Crossing Apartments in Suitland, Maryland.  Great Job!
